About Wild Blue Yonder:
Wild Blue Yonder is an acoustic foursome based in Knoxville that cites influences from John Prine to Sylvia Plath—but proudly claims its own original musical voice. Each bandmember is an accomplished musician and multi-instrumentalist. Melissa Wade leads the band on rhythm guitar and vocals (we hear that she's also a fine pianist). Philip Coward shares leadership duties, contributing on lead acoustic guitar and mandolin. Classically trained violinists and "virtuoso fiddlers" Laura Knight and Cindy Wallace round out the group. Laura also plays percussion, as you can see.
They've performed for Doc Watson, are regulars at Asheville's Grove Park Inn, and recently topped the charts on WIVK with their song "The Possum Crawls Tonight," beating out another local boy, Kenny Chesney. In case you're wondering, WIVK is one of the top country radio stations in the nation.
Learn more about Wild Blue Yonder, listen to their music, and plan to catch them live at one of their upcoming gigs by visiting the band's website or MySpace page.
